Germany's solar sector launches SMA Energy Maximizer HEMS and highlights storage revenue gains

SMA presented its Energy Maximizer home‑energy‑management system (HEMS) at the Smarter E Europe 2026 exhibition in Munich. Integrated into all SMA devices, the system prioritises self‑consumption of photovoltaic (PV) generation, offers a 90‑day free trial and can be activated via the SMA 360° or Energy app. New hardware includes the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X inverter (5‑30 kW) and modular SMA Storage M batteries (12.3‑49.2 kWh), plus a backup solution for uninterrupted power.

In a separate analysis, Hamburg‑based suena energy examined 72 design scenarios for PV‑storage projects at a 30 MW connection point. The study found that optimal sizing can more than double the revenue per megawatt, ranging from €79 000 to €169 000 per MW (excluding market premiums). Smaller batteries with long discharge durations yielded the highest specific earnings, while larger systems delivered higher total annual income.
