Germany’s Summer 2026 Domestic Travel Surge Spotlights Lindau and Scenic Lakes
Airbnb’s recent analysis identified Lindau on Lake Constance as the leading destination among five small German towns that have become the most popular holiday spots for the summer of 2026. The trend reflects a growing preference among German travellers for short‑range trips that avoid the complexities of international travel amid security, climate and economic uncertainties.
Travel guides also emphasize a series of German lakes—Walchensee, Eibsee, the Osterseen in Bavaria and the Müritz National Park in Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern—as locations that feel like Caribbean or Scandinavian getaways. These lakes offer swimming, kayaking, cycling and hiking, providing foreign‑like scenery without leaving the country.
