Germán Berterame excluded from Mexico's 2026 World Cup roster

Inter Miami forward Germán Berterame has expressed his surprise after being excluded from the Mexico national team's roster for the 2026 World Cup. Despite his efforts to secure a spot, head coach Javier Aguirre opted for other attackers, including Raúl Jiménez, Santiago Giménez, Armando González, Guillermo Martínez, and Julián Quiñones.

Berterame, an Argentine-born player who has previously played for Monterrey and Atlético de San Luis, stated that while the decision was unexpected, he respects the coaching staff's choice to do what is best for the team. He emphasized his commitment to continuing his performance to earn future call-ups.

The announcement follows a period of recovery for the striker, who was sidelined for nearly a month due to a severe collision during a match against CF Montréal. Berterame described the incident as disorienting, noting that he lost consciousness briefly before waking up in an ambulance. He is now nearing a return to professional activity with Inter Miami.
