Germán Cano nears return to Fluminense after injury

Argentine striker Germán Cano has returned to ball training with the Fluminense squad following a grade 3 injury to his right posterior thigh muscle. The injury occurred during a Libertadores match against Platense on September 8.

While Cano is recovering faster than the initial November projection, he is not expected to be available for the upcoming match against Palmeiras on October 14. He is projected to return for the Brasileirão fixture against Santos at the Maracanã on October 18.

Cano’s future with the club remains uncertain, as his contract expires at the end of the season and reports suggest it may not be renewed. Meanwhile, Fluminense coach Marcão faces selection decisions for the Palmeiras match, including doubts over left-back Renê and competition in midfield and attack.
