Germán Gutiérrez battles aggressive grade IV glioblastoma

Germán Gutiérrez, a 67-year-old former doctor and nurse, is battling glioblastoma grade IV, an aggressive brain tumor with a poor prognosis. Despite a healthy lifestyle, he was diagnosed after experiencing sudden disorientation and seizures in June 2025.

Because the tumor's extent made surgery impossible, his treatment plan at the Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge has focused on extending life rather than a cure. His regimen included 30 radiotherapy sessions and six cycles of oral chemotherapy with temozolomide. In November 2025, he also began using TTFields (Tumor Treating Fields) therapy, an innovative technique using electric fields to help delay disease progression.
