Gernika Market Showcases Rioja Alavesa Wine and Cod

The Plaza del Mercado in Gernika hosted a weekend market featuring Rioja Alavesa wine paired with cod, continuing the municipality’s strategy of promoting high‑quality local products and direct contact between producers and buyers. Stalls also offered cheese, oil, txakoli, patés, cured meats, olives, artisanal pastries and Basque crafts, with producers from across the Basque Country and Navarre presenting seasonal vegetables and fruits.

The event is part of a broader programme that runs through the end of the year, including future themes such as rabbit and cider on 5 September, the traditional Sukalki Eguna on 3 October, and the “Último Lunes de Gernika” on 26 October, among others.
