Geronimo Rulli transfers from Marseille to Manchester City

Argentine goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli has transferred from Olympique de Marseille to Manchester City for a fee of 3.5 million euros. The 34-year-old, who played 73 matches for Marseille over two seasons, has signed a contract with the English club running until 2028. At Manchester City, Rulli is expected to serve as a backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Reports indicate that his monthly salary will decrease from an estimated 320,000 euros at Marseille to approximately 205,000 euros at City.

Following Rulli's departure, Olympique de Marseille appears to be looking internally to fill the vacancy in goal rather than pursuing new signings in the transfer market. Jeffrey De Lange, previously Rulli's deputy, is positioned to take over the starting role. De Lange's recent performance, including a start in Marseille's 4-0 victory against Strasbourg, has reportedly convinced manager Bruno Genesio. This internal promotion is driven by both sporting decisions and budgetary constraints at the club.
