Gerrit Nieberg wins Championship and Grand Prix in Münster

Gerrit Nieberg secured a double victory at the Four-Star CSI ‘Turnier der Sieger’ held in front of Münster Castle. Riding the Dutch mare IB Queen, the 33-year-old athlete won both the Championship and the Grand Prix.

In the Grand Prix jump-off, Nieberg and IB Queen finished with a clear round, beating Swiss rider Nadja Peter Steiner and her horse Clearround II Mondo by 0.14 seconds. Belgian rider Koen Vereecke, riding Merryweather Vt Leeuwerikenhof, took third place with a clear round. Stefan Engbers was the highest-placed German rider in the Grand Prix, finishing fourth with Baju NRW.

IB Queen, an eleven-year-old mare, has taken on a primary role in Nieberg’s stable following the sale of his top horse, Ping Pong. Nieberg expressed significant satisfaction with the wins, noting the special nature of competing successfully in front of a home crowd.
