Gerson Yabusele quits Knicks, cites limited minutes and lauds Victor Wembanyama

French forward Gerson Yabusele announced his departure from the New York Knicks after a season of limited playing time. He said the decision was made after discussions with his wife, agents and mentor, emphasizing his desire to control his own career path. Yabusele recalled that after two or three poor games the Knicks organization began asking for a trade, and he felt the role offered would not allow him to develop.

He criticized head coach Mike Brown’s rotation plan, noting that the five starters were expected to play 38 minutes each, leaving little room for bench players. Yabusele also praised Victor Wembanyama, calling the Japanese prospect “an unsolvable problem” who continues to evolve each summer. After leaving the Knicks, Yabusele signed with Greek club Panathinaikos and later found a larger role with the Chicago Bulls.
