Gervasio Sánchez exhibition opens at Museo de Orduña
The Museo de Orduña in Bizkaia is hosting ‘Activistas por la vida’, a documentary photographic exhibition by award-winning photojournalist Gervasio Sánchez. The project documents the lives and struggles of 40 men and women defending their territories, nature, and human rights in Guatemala and Honduras.
Organized in collaboration with the international solidarity association Herriarte-Entrepueblos, the exhibition uses portraits, explanatory texts, and video interviews to highlight the risks faced by indigenous and peasant communities. The work illustrates the conflicts between local defenders and transnational interests involved in the extraction of natural resources and raw materials. The exhibition aims to provide a critical reflection on the threats faced by those protecting land, rivers, and civil liberties in Central America.
