Gervonta Davis in talks for comeback fight against George Kambosos Jr

American boxer Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is in active negotiations for a comeback fight against former undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. The potential matchup would mark Davis’s return to the ring following a hiatus that began after a controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. in March 2025.

While both camps have confirmed that discussions are underway, a significant contractual disagreement has emerged regarding a rehydration clause. Kambosos has publicly expressed frustration with the proposed terms, stating, “just stop with the rehydration clauses ffs. A fights a fight!!!”

Davis currently holds the status of ‘Champion in recess’ for the vacant WBA World Lightweight title. Kambosos, a 33-year-old Australian, has faced recent struggles in the ring, losing four of his last six fights, though he remains a notable figure in the lightweight division.
