Gerwyn Price faces scrutiny after World Grand Prix final loss

Darts professional Gerwyn Price continues to face speculation regarding his career longevity following a loss in the World Grand Prix final. Despite holding a 3-0 lead during the match, Price was ultimately defeated 6-4 by Luke Humphries.

This marks Price’s third loss in a major PDC final this season, following defeats to Ross Smith in the World Series of Darts Finals and Luke Littler in the World Matchplay. While Price has suggested in recent interviews that he is content with his current status and could transition to farming, analyst Wayne Mardle disputes the idea that Price is ready to retire.

Mardle argues that Price’s competitive intensity and visible disappointment after losses demonstrate a deep hunger for major titles. Mardle noted that Price has expressed a desire to make changes to his game to secure future victories, suggesting the 41-year-old Welshman remains a significant contender in the sport.
