Get Jiro! animated series debuts on Adult Swim

The animated series Get Jiro! has debuted on Adult Swim, adapting the DC Comics graphic novel co-written by the late Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose. Set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles where chefs hold dominant power, the story follows Jiro, a Japanese sushi chef caught in a violent conflict between rival culinary factions that operate similarly to Mafia organizations.

The production aims to preserve Bourdain’s culinary vision and perspective on food culture. While the project faced delays following Bourdain’s death, original co-writer Joel Rose participated in the writers' room to guide the adaptation. The first season consists of 10 episodes, adapting the origin story and the prequel Blood and Sushi. The series is expected to air on Toonami and stream on HBO Max.
