Getafe CF wins Formosa 7s U16 title in Kaohsiung

The 2026 Formosa 7s International Youth Football Championship has concluded after five days of competition at the Kaohsiung Municipal Nanzi Football Field in Taiwan. The tournament featured youth teams from various nations, including Japan, Spain, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.

The U16 category concluded with a high-stakes final between two Spanish La Liga youth academies: Getafe CF and Villarreal CF. After the match ended in a 1-1 draw during regulation time, Getafe CF secured the championship by defeating Villarreal CF 7-6 in a penalty shootout.

Other notable performances included the local Kaohsiung Attackers FC, whose U8 team earned third place and whose U14 team finished as runners-up after a 3-4 penalty loss. Additionally, the all-female Boas FC U10 team from Hong Kong claimed the championship in their division.
