Getafe faces crisis following heavy defeats

Getafe is experiencing a period of significant instability following a series of poor results, including a 4-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao and a 2-5 defeat against FC Lugano in the Conference League. The club currently sits just one point above the relegation zone in La Liga.

Following the loss in Bilbao, team captain and goalkeeper David Soria expressed harsh self-criticism, stating, “We are in a moment where the team is uncompetitive, at this moment we do not have first division level.” He noted that the team has conceded nine goals in just two matches, describing the squad as being at a low point mentally.

Manager José Bordalás echoed the sense of crisis, noting that the team has reached a breaking point. While expressing respect for Soria’s perspective, Bordalás emphasized the need for immediate defensive improvements and consistency to avoid further consequences. The club faces upcoming fixtures against Sevilla in La Liga and Brighton & Hove Albion in the Conference League.
