Getafe targets Sporting midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili

Sporting CP has confirmed that 27‑year‑old Georgian midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili is not in coach Rui Borges' plans for the upcoming season. The club is looking to move him, preferably on loan to Spanish side Getafe, with an option for a permanent transfer that could be exercised in 2027. Sporting hopes to recoup part of the €5.5 million it paid Levante for the player a year ago.

Getafe, constrained by Spain's financial fair‑play rules, is interested but must structure the deal carefully. Other clubs such as Celta Vigo have shown interest, but no firm offer has emerged. Kochorashvili, who began his Spanish career with Girona at 18 and later played for Peralada, Levante and Castellón, was a key figure in Valencia’s promotion to LaLiga in 2024‑25. He remains under contract with Sporting until 2030, with a €80 million release clause, and cites personal reasons for preferring a move nearer to his Portuguese girlfriend.
