GETFund and Saka Homes begin 250‑bed dormitory at Achimota Senior High, Ghana

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and private developer Saka Homes have broken ground on a new 250‑bed boys’ dormitory at Achimota Senior High School in Accra. The project, financed with GH¢18.7 million donated by alumnus Ebenezer Kwadwo Saka Addo‑Mensah’s Saka Homes, is part of GETFund’s Education Financing and Partnership Initiative (EFPI) and aims to expand student accommodation under the Free Senior High School policy.

Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu highlighted the construction as evidence of the government’s push to address infrastructure gaps in secondary schools and noted that a US$256 million programme to build new schools and expand facilities is awaiting a commencement certificate. GETFund Administrator Paul Adjei described the partnership as a model for public‑private collaboration and pledged further investment in dormitory and classroom infrastructure for selected senior high schools.
