Getnet appoints Cristiane Nogueira as CEO of Brazilian operations

Getnet has appointed Cristiane Nogueira as the new CEO of its Brazilian operations, succeeding Cassio Schmitt, who has led the company for nearly five years. The leadership transition is subject to approval from the Central Bank, which is expected in October. Upon the completion of the transition, Schmitt will remain with the company as a member of the board of directors.

Nogueira is a veteran of the financial and payments sectors with over 25 years of experience, including previous roles at BankBoston, Safra, and Edenred, as well as nine years at Santander and three years at Getnet. Her mandate involves driving growth and innovation to expand Getnet's offerings beyond traditional acquiring services into platform-based fintech solutions.

The leadership change comes amid intense competition in the Brazilian acquiring market, where Getnet currently holds a market share of approximately 14.1%. The company faces pressure from both traditional competitors and emerging fintechs as it seeks to increase its market presence.
