Geumcheon-gu opens nominations for 2026 honorary residents

Geumcheon-gu has announced that it is accepting recommendations for the ‘2026 Geumcheon-gu Honorary Resident’ program. The application period will run until September 18 at 6:00 PM.

Since 2015, the district has operated this system to honor individuals who have contributed to the region's development or enhanced exchange and friendship with its residents. Candidates can be foreigners or South Korean nationals residing in other cities or districts. Eligible contributors include those who have promoted local economic, educational, or cultural activities, or those who have significantly aided international or commercial cooperation with the district.

Honorary residents receive administrative benefits similar to local residents, invitations to various district events, and potential opportunities to serve as committee members or guest lecturers. Recommendations can be submitted by the district head, members of the Geumcheon-gu Council, heads of public organizations, or groups of at least 10 residents. Following a review by a selection committee, approximately two individuals will be chosen and officially awarded their certificates during the 2026 Residents' Day ceremony.
