Geumcheon-gu shifts Harmony Festival to resident-led planning

Geumcheon-gu is transitioning the Geumcheon Harmony Festival into a resident-led event. Rather than simply participating in existing programs, local residents will now propose ideas and help decide the festival's direction and programming.

To facilitate this, the district has established the ‘2026 Geumcheon Harmony Festival Resident-Participatory Organizing Committee’. This committee, consisting of approximately ten members including residents, experts, and local media advisors, is divided into three subcommittees: cultural planning, performance events, and exhibition/experience. These groups will discuss specific programs, which will then be reviewed and decided upon by the main committee for implementation.

Discussions have focused on strengthening the festival's identity of ‘harmony’ by involving diverse groups such as local artists, youth, and seniors. There are also proposals to integrate local resources, such as G Valley businesses and local commercial districts, into the festival content. The festival is scheduled to take place on October 17 and 18.
