Geumcheon-gu to establish youth choir using hometown donation funds
Geumcheon-gu is launching the Geumcheon-gu Municipal Youth Choir, marking the first official project funded by the Hometown Love Donation System. As of late September, the district has accumulated approximately 180 million won through these donations since the program's inception in 2023.
The initiative aims to strengthen the cultural and artistic capabilities of local children and adolescents while fostering emotional development. The district plans to promote regional culture by organizing intergenerational performances, linking the new youth choir with the existing Geumcheon-gu Municipal Women's Choir and the Municipal Senior Choir.
Recruitment is currently underway for 42 members across six vocal ranges—soprano, tenor, mezzo-soprano, baritone, alto, and bass—as well as accompanists and instructors. Eligible applicants must be between 7 and 19 years old, residing in Geumcheon-gu or attending a local school. Selected members will perform at the Geum-narae Art Hall, local festivals, and national choral competitions.
