Geumcheon-gu to implement administrative reorganization in 2027

Geumcheon-gu, led by District Head Choi Ki-chan, has announced a major administrative reorganization scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. The restructuring aims to enhance the execution of core policies and strengthen resident-centered services by expanding the main office from 6 bureaus to 7 bureaus.

A new ‘Future Growth Bureau’ will be established to integrate culture, education, youth, and job policies, fostering sustainable regional development. To address digital shifts, an ‘AI Policy Office’ will be created within the Planning and Budget Division to implement artificial intelligence in administrative tasks. Additionally, a ‘Conflict Resolution Office’ will be established to proactively manage public disputes regarding local issues such as data center construction and urban redevelopment.

The reorganization also includes renaming and restructuring several departments to better reflect resident needs. Key changes include the creation of a ‘Care Welfare Bureau’ with a specialized ‘Integrated Care Division,’ a ‘Climate Environment and Living Bureau’ to address carbon neutrality, and an ‘Urban Space Bureau’ to unify redevelopment and reconstruction tasks. The district council has already approved the necessary ordinance amendments.
