Gevgelija opens new day center for active aging
A new day center for active aging has opened in the municipality of Gevgelija, North Macedonia. The facility is designed to provide social services to individuals over the age of 65, specifically targeting those living alone or at risk of social isolation.
The center was established through a project by the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth to improve social services. While the Gevgelija Municipality acted as the applicant, the Red Cross of North Macedonia – Gevgelija Municipal Organization will serve as the service provider.
The center has a capacity for 50 users and will operate five days a week. It features fully equipped spaces for social interaction, rest, group activities, and a kitchen. Planned activities include social, cultural, educational, creative, recreational, and health-preventative programs aimed at improving quality of life and community inclusion.
