GHAC Arbitration Week 2026 focuses on India's institutional arbitration future

The Gujarat High Court Arbitration Centre (GHAC) held its Arbitration Week 2026, focusing on the evolution and institutionalization of arbitration in India. The event brought together leading practitioners and representatives from major international and domestic institutions, including the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA).

Discussions addressed the transition from ad hoc to institutional arbitration, the appointment of arbitrators, procedural efficiency, and the scrutiny of awards. In his valedictory address, India’s Attorney General, R. Venkataramani, emphasized that improving the nation's arbitration regime requires more than just statutory amendments. He advocated for a stronger culture of arbitration built on professional excellence, ethics, accountability, and institutional frameworks to match India’s changing economic and social landscape.
