Ghadir al-Sharaabi appeals acquittal in father's murder case

Ghadir al-Sharaabi, the daughter of Saif al-Sharaabi, has announced her intention to appeal a preliminary court ruling that acquitted Walid Shal'a of the murder of her father. The incident occurred on December 29, 2024, in the Al-Masbah neighborhood of Taiz, following a dispute with armed individuals.

Al-Sharaabi expressed profound shock at the verdict, questioning how the court reached an acquittal for Shal'a due to insufficient evidence despite the existence of technical reports, forensic documents, seized weapons, and witness testimonies. She noted that while another individual, Elias, was sentenced to ten years in prison and ordered to pay blood money, the evidence suggests Shal'a was present during the incident.

She has called upon the Taiz Appeals Prosecution and the Court of Appeals to review the case file with impartiality and justice. Al-Sharaabi emphasized that her family will continue to pursue all legal avenues to ensure the truth is revealed and accountability is established.
