Ghamasaan: Tigmanshu Dhulia’s crime drama explores Bundelkhand power struggles
Tigmanshu Dhulia’s new Hindi crime drama, Ghamasaan, has been released on the streaming platform Zee5. Set in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh in 2006, the film depicts a high-stakes confrontation between a notorious dacoit named Maharaj and an IPS officer named Aditya.
Arshad Warsi stars as Maharaj, a feared outlaw who has maintained power through violence and political connections for nearly three decades. Pratik Gandhi plays Aditya, a methodical task force chief tasked with apprehending the criminal to ensure the peace of upcoming elections. The narrative explores the intersection of rural crime and heartland politics, specifically how politicians manipulate criminal elements.
While reviews note the film’s intense atmosphere and Warsi’s departure from his typical comedic roles, some critics observed that the narrative momentum can be uneven and the streaming format may limit the visual scope intended by the cinematography.
