Ghana Air Force assumes Presidency security duties

The Ghana Air Force has assumed security responsibilities at the Presidency, taking over from the Ghana Navy during the 49th Ceremonial Changing of the Guard parade held on Monday, September 14, 2026.

Presided over by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the ceremony marks the formal transfer of guard duties for a three-month period. This rotation is a longstanding military tradition within the Ghana Armed Forces, where security responsibility for the seat of government is shared among the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy, and Ghana Air Force.

The event was attended by various government officials, including the Minister for the Interior, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. The proceedings featured precision drills, military band performances, and ceremonial displays.
