Ghana Airports Company Limited to hold emergency simulation at Accra Airport
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) will conduct a full-scale emergency simulation exercise, titled ‘Falcon Eye 2026’, at the Accra International Airport on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The exercise is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Designed to test the airport’s preparedness and the effectiveness of its contingency and aerodrome emergency plans, the simulation will model an act of unlawful interference targeting airport facilities and operations. The drill will involve a coordinated response from various agencies, including the Emergency Operations Centre.
The exercise is being carried out in compliance with Ghana Civil Aviation Directives and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, which mandate such full-scale tests at least once every two years. An Exercise Planning Team consisting of representatives from the GACL, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Army, and Ghana Police Service is overseeing the event.
GACL has stated that there will be minimal disruption to normal airport operations. While there will be increased movement of security personnel and emergency vehicles within operational areas, no impact on flight operations is anticipated.
