Ghana and Malta seek to deepen diplomatic and economic ties

Ghana and Malta are working to strengthen their longstanding diplomatic relationship through deeper political, economic, and people-to-people cooperation. Formal relations between the two nations were established on February 27, 1974, rooted in the shared post-colonial legacies of leaders such as Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah and Malta’s Dom Mintoff.

Recent discussions between officials, including Malta’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Ronald Micallef, focused on translating cordial relations into practical cooperation. Both nations recently shared roles as elected members of the United Nations Security Council in 2023.
