Ghana and Sierra Leone schedule temporary power outages amid maintenance and faults

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) announced that planned maintenance will cause temporary power cuts on July 22 in parts of the Tema, Ashanti, Accra West, Central and Eastern regions, affecting dozens of communities and businesses. Engineers are also addressing separate network faults that have produced unplanned outages in several locations.

In Sierra Leone, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) reported ongoing network faults that have disrupted supply across the Western Area, listing neighborhoods such as Babadorie, Murray Town Barracks, and Gloucester among the affected sites. The authority cited cable vandalism, faulty transformers and heavy rainfall as causes of the delays, and said technical crews are on standby to resume work once conditions improve.
