Ghana and South Africa plan electricity outages for maintenance

Ghana's Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) announced scheduled power outages for emergency maintenance and system upgrades in parts of Accra (including Accra West), the Ashanti Region, Tema and the Central Region from July 20 to July 23. Outages are expected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting households, businesses and public services while engineers address faults and improve reliability.

South Africa's state utility Eskom scheduled a 14‑hour power interruption in Limpopo on July 23, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., to perform essential maintenance at the Dithabaneng sub‑station. The outage will affect communities such as Makurung, Dithabaneng, Maralaleng, Lekurung, Bothunyeng, Tjiane and Seswikaneng, with warnings to treat all connections as live and to prepare for the loss of electricity for water pumping, medical equipment and refrigeration.
