Ghana and Nigeria announce 2026 military recruitment exercises

Military forces in Ghana and Nigeria have announced recruitment exercises for 2026.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will open its online recruitment portal for the 2026 Military Enlistment Exercise on September 4, 2026. This includes the 2026/2027 Ghana Military Academy intake and the Regular Career Officer Course. Applicants for the Regular Cadet course must be Ghanaian citizens, unmarried, and between 18 and 26 years old by February 18, 2027. Mandatory electronic vouchers costing GH¢200 will be available at Ghana Post offices starting September 3. GAF has cautioned the public against using unauthorized agents or middlemen.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced recruitment for its Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026. The application window runs from September 3 to October 14, 2026. The NAF is seeking tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. Age requirements are 18 to 27 for trades roles and 18 to 22 for non-trades roles as of March 1, 2027. The NAF emphasized that the application process is free of charge.
