Ghana Armed Forces Hold First Omane Boamah Memorial Lecture on Accra Flood Solutions
The Ghana Armed Forces held the inaugural annual Omane Boamah Memorial Lecture at Burma Camp in Accra, honoring the late Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who died in a military helicopter crash in August 2025. The event was attended by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku‑Agyemang, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Baah Forson (acting Defence Minister), Dr Julius Debrah, service chiefs, and alumni of the late minister’s alma mater. Two speakers addressed the gathering: Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Akesseh spoke on selfless leadership and the minister’s legacy of servant public service, while Professor Kwasi Appeaning Addo presented on “Accra Beyond the Floods,” urging stricter enforcement of town‑planning rules, modern environmental monitoring, and community resilience to combat flooding caused by waste dumping and construction on waterways. The lecture called for practical actions to make Accra a climate‑resilient city, reflecting Dr Boamah’s commitment to national development.
