Ghana Armed Forces Northern Command warns soldiers against misconduct

Brigadier General Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo, the General Officer Commanding of the Ghana Armed Forces’ Northern Command, has issued a warning to military personnel regarding professional misconduct. Speaking at the 10 Mechanised Battalion Barracks on October 28, 2026, Agbebo stated that soldiers engaging in inappropriate social media activities, such as posting unprofessional TikTok videos while wearing military uniforms, could face dismissal.

The General Officer Commanding also addressed several other forms of misconduct, including extortion, drug abuse, and the use of military status to interfere in civilian matters. He specifically cautioned soldiers against using their positions to intimidate individuals in land disputes or to recover debts. He further condemned reports of personnel extorting money from illegal small-scale mining sites.

Agbebo emphasized that personnel with personal grievances should utilize civil authorities, such as the police, rather than resorting to force. He noted that substance abuse would not be tolerated due to the safety risks it poses to personnel handling weapons and ammunition. The command intends to initiate disciplinary proceedings against any personnel found to be undermining the professionalism and public image of the armed forces.
