Ghana Attorney-General defends progress of Operation Recover All Loot

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has defended the progress of the ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ (ORAL) initiative, stating that corruption cases are advancing faster than those in previous administrations of the Fourth Republic.

Speaking during a citizen engagement in the Upper East Region, Ayine noted that investigations into 34 cases stemming from the ORAL Committee have been completed. He stated that preliminary findings have been made and several cases are being prepared for court filings. The Minister emphasized that investigations involve forensic audits and cooperation with agencies such as the Economic and Organised Crime Office to ensure accountability without political persecution.

Ayine rejected claims from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the initiative is being delayed or that the government is losing cases in court. He cited historical examples, such as the Quality Grain case, to argue that current prosecutions are moving through the legal system more efficiently than past efforts.
