Ghana Attorney-General meets with JUSAG leadership over judicial strike
Ghanaian Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, met with the national leadership of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) to address the ongoing strike action by judicial service staff.
The strike, which began on November 2, was initiated after the association accused the government of failing to implement reviewed 2026 salaries and allowances. During the meeting, Dr. Ayine stated he had previously helped pass the Judicial Service Terms and Conditions Regulations, 2025, and provided a legal opinion to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission supporting the legitimacy of the staff's allowance claims.
Dr. Ayine pledged to discuss the matter directly with the Minister for Finance to seek an urgent resolution. While JUSAG General Secretary Abdulai Yakubu described the meeting as productive, the union has not yet called off the strike. Leadership indicated they will decide whether to return to work after observing the outcome of the Attorney-General's upcoming meeting with the Finance Minister.
