Abronye DC accuses NPP leadership of concealing Chairman Wontumi’s health

Bono Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Abronye DC, has publicly accused the party’s national leadership of concealing the declining health of jailed former Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

Speaking on the programme ‘The Evidence’, Abronye DC claimed that rank-and-file supporters are being misled regarding Wontumi’s wellbeing while he remains in custody. This follows Wontumi’s 20-year prison sentence on July 20, 2026, and his subsequent resignation as national chairman in August 2026.

The remarks highlight a growing rift within the NPP, as Abronye DC’s statements directly contradict the perceived silence or management of information by the party's national executive level regarding one of its most influential financiers.
