Ghana Black Sharks to hold nationwide trials for AFCON qualifiers
Ghana’s national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, is implementing a new selection policy ahead of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) qualifiers against Nigeria. Head coach Daniel Nii Kotey has announced nationwide trials branded ‘justify your inclusion,’ where even previously capped players must compete for their spots based on fitness, technical ability, and tactical discipline.
The initial trials are scheduled for September 11 and 12 at Emancipation Beach in Keta, followed by a second phase in Zone A. Kotey noted that the trials are necessary to assess form and fitness due to the lack of an active beach soccer league in certain areas.
Additionally, the Ghana Football Association’s Beach Soccer Management Committee has approved technical proposals to support the national team’s continental preparations. The committee also confirmed that the 2026 Beach Soccer Premier League final will be held in Ada on Sunday, September 27.
