Ghana Black Stars draw 1-1 with Wales in World Cup warm‑up

Ghana's national football team, the Black Stars, played a 2026 FIFA World Cup preparatory friendly against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium, ending in a 1-1 draw. Ghana took the lead in the second half through Caleb Yirenkyi, but Wales equalised late via Lewis Koumas. Defender Jerome Opoku highlighted the team's progress despite limited preparation time and visa‑related delays that saw several players arrive only on the eve of the match. He noted that with more time together the squad can improve further, and the team will face Jamaica on June 10 before the tournament.

Former Black Stars forward Augustine Arhinful, speaking on Sporty FM, praised goalkeeper Benjamin Asare’s recent development but criticised his communication and positioning during Wales’ equaliser, urging improvements ahead of the World Cup.
