Ghana Black Stars start Cardiff camp ahead of Wales friendly before 2026 World Cup

Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, began a 12‑day training camp in Cardiff on Monday under head coach Carlos Queiroz. The squad assembled at Dragon Park and later at the Cardiff City Stadium to prepare for a friendly against Wales on June 2 – the first senior meeting between the two nations.

Queiroz used the camp to assess players ahead of the final 26‑man roster due on June 1. Returnees included defender Baba Rahman, winger Ernest Nuamah, defender Abdul Mumin, midfielder Augustine Boakye and defender Alidu Seidu, while home‑based goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi were the only domestic‑based players selected. The friendly will serve as Ghana’s last competitive test before traveling to North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they are drawn in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama.

Ghana will open the World Cup against Panama in Toronto on June 17, followed by matches in Boston and Philadelphia. Wales will be coached by Craig Bellamy.
