Ghana Civil Service head calls for private sector collaboration

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Head of the Civil Service in Ghana, has called for enhanced collaboration between the Civil Service, the private sector, and academia to accelerate the nation’s socio-economic development. Speaking during the 2026 Civil Service Week and 2025 Awards Ceremony in Accra, he emphasized that the Civil Service must adapt to changing times to remain responsive to societal needs.

To support the government’s development goals, Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh urged staff to embrace innovation, improve institutional coordination, and eliminate bottlenecks in public service delivery. He noted that mechanisms have been established to connect various ministries and agencies with the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat to better implement national priorities.

Dr. Ishmael Nii Amanor Dodoo of the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat further advocated for moving beyond rigid office hours. He suggested that digital technologies should be leveraged to ensure public services remain accessible to citizens and businesses outside of conventional working hours, supporting the country’s 24-hour economy agenda.

Additionally, Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh highlighted the importance of staff welfare, noting that prioritizing wellbeing, teamwork, and discipline is essential for improving public sector performance and building a more productive and resilient service.
