Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz set to equal record with fifth straight World Cup

Carlos Queiroz, the 73‑year‑old Portuguese manager, will lead Ghana in their Group L opener against Panama at the 2026 World Cup in Toronto. The appointment marks his fifth consecutive World Cup as a head coach – a feat that matches the record previously set by Bora Milutinović, who coached five different nations from 1986 to 2002. Queiroz’s streak began with Portugal in 2010 and continued with Iran at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments. He was hired by Ghana in April, replacing Otto Addo, and said, “I am prepared for this.
