Ghana Cocoa Board disburses GH¢2.6bn to settle farmer payments, total season payouts exceed GH¢34.5bn

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has released an additional GH¢2.6 billion to Licensed Buying Companies for payment to cocoa farmers, raising total disbursements for the 2025/26 crop season to more than GH¢34.5 billion. About GH¢1.4 billion of the new funds is earmarked to clear outstanding balances owed to farmers who sold cocoa on credit. COCOBOD said it is working closely with the buying companies and has set up monitoring mechanisms to ensure the money reaches the intended recipients. The board emphasized its commitment to protecting farmer welfare and preserving the integrity of Ghana’s cocoa marketing system.

Farmers with unpaid balances are advised to contact the Licensed Buying Company through which they sold their cocoa, while COCOBOD pledged continued collaboration with industry stakeholders to settle all outstanding obligations.
