Ghana Cocoa Board releases GH₵2.6 billion to settle farmers' outstanding payments

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has disbursed a total of GH₵2.6 billion to licensed buying companies across all cocoa‑producing regions. Of this amount, about GH₵1.4 billion is earmarked to clear outstanding credit balances owed to cocoa farmers, addressing long‑standing delays in payment. Since the start of the current crop season, COCOBOD has paid a cumulative GH₵34.52 billion to these purchasing agents, aiming to ensure that farmers receive prompt cash for their beans. The board has also instituted monitoring mechanisms to guarantee that the funds reach legitimate farmers and to prevent further payment delays.
