Ghana commissions Unity Bridge and starts River Offin bridge to end deadly crossings

The Free Methodist Church, together with community members, completed the GH¢65,000 Unity Bridge linking Sumbrungu Azorebisi and Amogrebisi in the Bolgatanga Municipality. Commissioned on 31 July 2026, the footbridge allows motorbikes and tricycles to cross the stream safely, ending years of drownings that claimed children and residents during the rainy season. Assembly Member Dr. Elias Ayinbila Apasiya highlighted the bridge’s benefit for nurses, teachers, traders and other daily commuters.

In the Ashanti Region, construction has begun on a permanent bridge over the River Offin in the Atwima Mponua District. The project, led by Ede3n Na Nyame Ntumi Ny3 Group of Companies in partnership with the district assembly, aims to replace hazardous canoe crossings that have caused at least ten deaths this year. District Chief Executive Ibrahim Issahak and company CEO Nana Adu Gyamfi said the new bridge will improve access to markets, schools and health facilities and stimulate local economic growth.
