Ghana confirms former MASLOC chief Sedina Tamakloe Attionu is serving 10‑year prison term

Interior Minister Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka confirmed that Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, former chief executive of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), is in state custody and serving her 10‑year prison sentence. He rejected claims that she was being held in a private facility, stating that the location of high‑profile inmates is not publicly disclosed for security reasons.

Attionu was convicted in absentia by the Accra High Court for causing nearly GH¢90 million in financial losses while leading MASLOC between 2013 and 2016. After being extradited from the United States, she arrived at Accra International Airport on 9 June and was taken into the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The minister advised that any visits must be arranged through official prison channels, emphasizing that disclosing the exact prison could endanger inmates, a practice he said is common in other countries as well.
