Ghana corruption trials see former NSA deputy and signals chief face misappropriation charges

Former National Service Authority Deputy Executive Director Gifty Oware‑Mensah is on trial after a bank witness testified that she authorised the transfer of NSA funds into her own firm, Blocks of Life Consult Limited. The witness, Gilbert Serbeh Yeboah of Agricultural Development Bank, cited a March 2 2023 letter signed by Oware‑Mensah directing the movement of money from the NSA hire‑purchase account. He said the bank acted on her clear instructions and that the transfers were processed under the account’s e‑Zwich repayment system. The case was adjourned to 11 June 2026 for further cross‑examination.

In a separate high‑profile case, former National Signals Bureau Director‑General Kwabena Adu‑Boahene continues to face a GH₵49.1 million misappropriation trial linked to the procurement of cyber‑defence software. His lawyer announced a three‑day hearing to continue cross‑examination of a key state witness. The Court of Appeal has ordered the prosecution to release certain documents, while rejecting requests for additional security‑account records. Adu‑Boahene denies the allegations and criticises prior public statements by the Attorney General that he says prejudiced public opinion.
