Ghana Court Sentences Two Nigerians to 20 Years for Human Trafficking and Cybercrime

The Circuit Court ‘B’ in Tema, Ghana, convicted Kingsley Ndifon, 29, and Emmanuel Akong, 25, of human trafficking and causing harm. Both were sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for human trafficking and 10 years for causing harm, with the sentences running concurrently. The men had lured 11 Nigerian nationals to Ghana with false promises of employment, then confined them in a house in the Sebrepor suburb of Tema and forced them to commit internet fraud using seized laptops and an iPad. Police rescued the victims after a distress call, recovered 16 laptops and an iPad, and reported that the victims were fed once daily, malnourished, and beaten with laptop cables and machetes. The trial was presided over by Her Honour Naomi Adusei Amamiampong Kucour, and the sentencing underscores Ghana’s crackdown on cross‑border trafficking and cyber‑crime operations.
