Ghana Cyber Security Authority launches 292 hotline for fraud reporting

Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has launched a public awareness campaign urging citizens to use the 292 hotline to report cyber threats, including mobile money (MoMo) fraud and blackmail.

During a media engagement in Accra, Alex Awere-Kyere, the CSA’s Senior Manager for Critical Information Infrastructure, warned that recovering funds from mobile money fraud is often impossible once fraudsters withdraw the money. He advised the public to verify all suspicious transactions before sending funds.

The CSA also addressed cases of digital extortion, specifically regarding the threat of leaking intimate videos. Victims are advised not to pay blackmailers and to preserve evidence, such as screenshots, usernames, and payment requests.
