Ghana deploys health workers to Grenada under Labour Export Programme
Ghana has deployed a group of health workers to Grenada as part of its Labour Export Programme to address medical staffing shortages in the Caribbean nation. Reports indicate that between 61 and over 100 healthcare professionals have been sent to serve in various medical facilities under renewable two-year contracts.
Before their departure, Chief of Staff Dr Julius Debrah and Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum urged the workers to maintain high ethical and professional standards. Dr Debrah emphasized that while qualifications provide opportunities, personal character determines long-term success and influences the international reputation of Ghanaian workers.
The programme aims to expand overseas employment for Ghanaian professionals. Following a previous deployment of 43 nurses to Jamaica, the government is also working toward deploying additional nurses to Germany and other Caribbean nations.
